JCI Award Flemish Young Entrepreneur 2015 Goes To Samuel De Wever

Samuel De Wever, 28 and CTO of independent Belgian telecom operator Destiny, was awarded Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2015 by JCI Flanders. The good news was announced on 21 May at the election at the Cultural Centre De Werf in Aalst.

Five preliminary rounds

In five provincial primaries, Young Entrepreneurs had to compete against each other. Samuel previously won the election for Flemish Brabant, but after the national election he can now also add the award of Young Entrepreneur 2015 to his record of achievements. The other nominees were: Bart Swinnen (Luminex LCE), Benjamin Rieder (Bubble Post), Patrick Reyntjens (GEOxyz) and Philippe Jans (Biolectric).

JCI Flanders' award recognises a young professional or entrepreneur between the ages of 18 and 40 each year. Unlike many other entrepreneurial awards in Flanders, it focuses mainly on the qualities of the entrepreneur as a person and not on the entrepreneur himself. With this competition, JCI wants to highlight the importance of entrepreneurship and send the message that entrepreneurship is necessary for our society and economy.

Samuel De wever himself responds enthusiastically: "This award is a great recognition, both for myself and for our whole team, because you don't do entrepreneurship alone!"

Destiny's story can be called remarkable, to say the least. The De Wever brothers dared to set up their own company in 2008. Destiny specialises in private data networks and telecom solutions for companies and today, seven years later, it is one of the fastest growing companies within the telecom sector, with a turnover growth of no less than 1209% over the past five years.
